This dataset was developed within an analysis of research data generated and managed within the University of Bologna, with respect to the differences and commonalities between disciplines and potential challenges for institutional data support services and infrastructures. We are primarily mapping the type (e.g., image), content (e.g., scan of a manuscript) and format (e.g., .tiff) of managed data, thus sustaining the value of FAIR data as granular resources.

AstroSmartphoneDataset, is a collection of astronomical images captured with smartphones with Google Camera (GCam), a Google mobile application allowing to take long-exposure astronomical images with a large field of view. GCam’s astrophotography mode captures and produces long-exposure frames to reduce noise, enhance details, improve dynamic range, while preserving non-astronomical elements like buildings and landscapes, ensuring a natural look.

LiSu (LiSu: A Dataset and Method for LiDAR Surface Normal Estimation)

We present LiSu, a novel synthetic LiDAR dataset targeted for research on surface normal estimation. We leverage CARLA, a versatile simulation environment offering diverse urban and rural landscapes, including downtown areas, small towns, and multi-lane highways. By extending CARLA’s LiDAR sensor to capture not only point locations but also surface normal vectors, we curate an extensive dataset of roughly 50k frames.
